A regular part of owning hearing aid use is repair and maintenance. Proper care and cleaning of your hearing aids, can many times, help prevent problems.

Why Do Hearing Aids Need Repairs?
The biggest reason why hearing aids need to be repaired is earwax and moisture. Earwax alone accounts for a full 3/4 of all hearing aid repairs. Earwax builds up on hearing aids, especially smaller models. This is why it is particularly important to clean your hearing aid daily.

Clean your hearing aids with a soft cloth or brush. Never use water.

How Often Do Hearing Normally Need Repairing?
Usually, smaller hearing aids need more repair and maintenance than larger ones. But this varies greatly from person to person.  If you work outdoors or live in a humid climate or your ears make more earwax, repairs will be required more often.  The "CIC" or Completely-In-Canal hearing aid style is usually repaired more often than behind-the-ear heaing aid styles.  It's not because one isn't as good or built as well as the other, they are just exposed to more earwax and body moisture due to their deep positioning in the ear canal.

Where Should I have My Hearing Aids Repaired?
While they are under warranty, take them back to the dispenser from whom you purchased them.  After they are out of warranty and the cost is on you, send them to HearSource repair.

How Much Will It Cost?
If you take them to local dispensers for repair, the price can vary widely, sometimes several hundred dollars. They may charge more for older or digital hearing aids.  At HearSource, most hearing aids are repaired for $99.
